West Wiltshire Crematorium’s grand donation to hospice charity

A hospice charity which provides specialist palliative care to 1,000 people with life-limiting conditions every year has received a grand donation from West Wiltshire Crematorium.

 

A cheque for £1,000 has been handed to the Salisbury Hospice Charity, which needs to raise around £1.5 million every year in order to deliver its vital services and support.

 

Following a diagnosis of a terminal or progressive illness, Salisbury Hospice aims to provide patients with the best possible quality of life and a dignified, pain-free death. The hospice provides care, comfort and advice at every stage of illness.

 

Hospice services are free of charge and are available to support family, carers and friends in addition to the patient.

 

The donation came from West Wiltshire Crematorium’s metal recycling scheme.

 

With the consent of families, metals recovered during cremation are recycled, and any money raised is used to support selected charities, local activities and environmental initiatives which benefit the communities that the crematorium serves.

 

The crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

“It’s a privilege to be able to make a donation to an organisation which provides such valuable assistance to families when they need it most.”
